Churton Street History Stroll

Join us for this fascinating walking tour and discover the stories behind the sixteen historical markers that line four blocks of one of the Piedmont's oldest streets. They start in the 1600s and go right through to the 1960s. The FULL stories behind the people and events depicted briefly on the markers are often much more interesting than might be supposed. In just two hours, you'll hear about all 16, and even visit some of the subjects in the town cemetery. Along the way you'll meet surveyors, merchants, generals, governors, lawyers, scientists, enslaved people, and much more.
