Hillsborough Candlelight Tour: Books By Candlelight

Frances Mayes, a contributing author to “27 Views of Hillsborough” says of Hillsborough “On a stroll along the main street, you’ll likely pass the author of one of your favorite books…..Say hello. The natives are friendly.” Her description of life in Hillsborough is the basis of this year’s Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce candlelight tour plans.

The 32nd Annual Candlelight Tour, scheduled for December 9th from 1 to 7 PM, will feature “pop up” readings from local authors who have celebrated the charm of this small town in various writings as testimony of their love for the place they live and work. The tradition of opening a variety of homes and historic sites continues, where visitors will find festive holiday décor, local musicians, and readings from authors and local students during the afternoon.

A self-guided tour, the Chamber’s Candlelight Tour invites the guests to create family holiday traditions while exploring the town’s many historic treasures, visiting the local merchants, and becoming a “citizen for the day”!
