Introduction to Tapestry Weaving with Local Fiber Artist and Historian Helen Bower Jones

Beginner workshop on how to start weaving with simple inexpensive equipment and yarn. Learn basic hand-weaving and tapestry techniques -- warping the loom, tabby weave, creating shapes, Rya knots, Soumak, and looped pile, and how to finish off your piece while making a mini-sampler wall hanging. Explore use of different fiber weights and textures. Suitable for ages 16 & up. All materials and equipment will be provided, along with instructions for making your own frame loom at another time.
